Hagrid, Harry Potter and My Happy Place

One cosy afternoon in the middle of October, I spent the whole afternoon listening to Harry Potter audiobooks (Chamber of Secrets and Prisoner of Azkaban), sketching stills of Hagrid from the movies, then when it got too dark to draw, I promptly tucked myself up in bed and forced Antony into a Harry Potter movie marathon.

I usually re-listen to the Harry Potter at this time of year (it's my happy place) but I have only ever had the films playing in the background whilst I drew before, (that score!) so I took advantage of the fact that Antony had never watched them and never read the books to sit and watch all 8 films properly. It took a couple of weeks but it was so worth it! The books have always been something I return to when I am seeking a little comfort and since Antony isn't a reader, it was lovely to see him get into the story.

As well as a few portraits of the brilliant Robbie Coltrane as him from the movies, I tried to squeeze in as many Hagrid references as I could, can you spot them all? These were the most enjoyable part for me and I will definitely be including more symbols and trinkets in my future artwork because they help tell a story.

I hope you all had a happy Halloween!
